Viacom’s outdoor advertising division - the largest out-of-home advertising company in the U.S. - posted a 3.2 percent rise in sales in Q2, to $499.3 million, according to Bloomberg.com. Operating income rose 5.3 percent to $81.7 million. Viacom’s total second-quarter profits rose 6.3 percent, thanks in part to a jump in earnings from its cable TV unit, which rose 14 percent, helping to counter CBS’s 16 percent loss.
