Clear Channel’s Spanish-language formatted stations, launched as part of a programming initiative that began last fall, saw their average quarter hour (AQH) share increase significantly from spring 2004 to spring 2005, the company announced today. For example, Spanish-language formats that boosted AQH share of the entire market, persons 12+, include: KSJO-FM serving San Jose, Calif., registered a 130 percent increase in AQH share versus last year and Las Vegas-based KWID-FM increased its AQH share by 83 percent.

The first station to flip its format under Clear Channel’s Spanish-language format initiative, WWVA-FM in Atlanta, increased its AQH share by 312.5 percent over last year.

The younger-skewing Hurban format (Hispanic urban) is also increasing market share by substantial percentages among adults 18-34: KLOL-FM, America’s first Hurban-formatted station, increased its AQH share by 42 percent after introducing the format in November 2004, and Albuquerque’s KABQ-FM rose from #15 to #6 in the market, with an increase in AQH share of 126 percent.
