‘American Idol’ On for Four More Years

Fox has announced that it will produce at least four - and possibly as many as six - more seasons of American Idol, and SonyBMG will continue to serve as record label for Idol artists. As part of the deal, Fox has reached an agreement with Simon Cowell to keep him on the series for at least five additional seasons.

Fox will get an increased licensing fee and advertising rates, according to The Celebrity Cafe. Fox will also build and host AmericanIdol.com, expected to become the show’s official website.
