The City of New Orleans has been seeking a sponsor for the 2006 Mardi Gras celebrations, and it has decided to hand over the search to the MediaBuys media buying club. MediaBuys will lead the quest for Official Presenting Sponsors and Corporate Supporters willing to collectively pay for a major Mardi Gras advertising support campaign, which could end up becoming a multi-million dollar ad budget.
MediaBuys will look first to its existing 850+ members who represent thousands of advertisers. Presenting sponsors will be offered a $2,000,000 package that may include advertising along the parade route, media related ad space, web casting, and the exclusive right to web-cast, film, and market the festivities from the City of New Orleans’s official reviewing stands.
The Advertising Support Program will have packages ranging from $5,000 to $250,000 allowing advertisers to show their support for the economic development of New Orleans. The Support Program ads will target potential event-attendees across America, using positive taglines symbolizing a need to move beyond the distress and into a rebuilding process.
Ad space reservation deadline is Jan. 27.
