‘Cottage Living’ Rate Base Surges to 900,000

Cottage Living, the magazine that premiered in Sept. 2004 with a rate base of 500,000, has increased its rate base with the January issue to 900,000, the company has announced. Publishing nine times a year, Cottage Living blends aspiration with achievable ideas for home decor, gardens, food, entertaining and travel.

According to the company, the magazine has outperformed expectations in all channels, including direct mail, cross-promotional wraps, online, inserts, renewals, gifts and newsstand. Securing more than twice the number of anticipated pockets, Cottage Living averages 160,000 newsstand copy sales per issue. And, in the first six months of 2005, it returned an average of 105,000 copies per issue beyond rate base - a nifty bonus for advertisers after a year in which many magazines, such as Martha Stewart Living, reported shortfalls in previous periods.

Cottage Living is published by Time Inc.’s Southern Progress Corporation.
