Court TV plans to prove to the advertising industry that it delivers a greater return on investment than other outlets by providing fool-proof electronic verification that the spots in their advertising schedules actually ran as ordered, Mediapost writes. The proof will come via the cable network’s deal with Verance, a verification service offering digital watermarking technology.
The move is part of a broader push Court TV has been making with agencies and advertisers to convince them that the cable network could deliver on its promises. Last year, Court TV formed an “ROI Council” comprised of top media agency executives, to develop standards for measuring ROI. According to Mediapost, that initiative led to several upfront advertising deals with big shops such as Carat, Magna Global, Mediaedge:cia and Starcom MediaVest that were tied to some form of audience engagement measure.
