Howard Stern called CBS Corp. president Les Moonves “vindictive, vicious and jealous,” when the Sirius Satellite Radio shock jock launched his “I Hate Les Moonves Tour” Tuesday night, writes the New York Post.
In an interview with Hannity & Colmes of Fox News Channel, Stern - now being sued for allegedly promoting his Sirius show on CBS stations - calls the lawsuit “frivolous” and a diversion to hide Moonves’ weaknesses as an executive. “This is a guy who was on ‘The Love Boat’ [as an actor] and now he’s playing the biggest role of his life - CEO of CBS,” said Stern in the interview.
“They just lost ratings like we’ve never seen in the history of radio before,” Stern added. “This lawsuit was a distraction so that stockholders will think Les is doing something.”
Meanwhile, Banc of America Securities questioned Stern’s ability to sustain his impact on $12.95-a-month Sirius subscriptions past June.
