Outdoor Advertising Gaining Ground

According to figures released recently by the Outdoor Advertising Association, out-of-home advertising rose 8.9 percent in June.

The outdoor industry continues to be a popular alternative for advertisers and has grown year-to-date 8.2 percent to $35 billion, Mediaweek reports.

The OAAA’s figures are based on member company affidavits, media projections and data from accountants Miller, Kaplan, Arase & Co.

The increase was helped along by entertainment advertising, including movie and TV promotions, and heavy competition between telecommunications providers, writes MediaPost. “Brands are investing more heavily than we anticipated. We’re starting to see an acceleration in ad dollars moving from other traditional media to out-of-home,” Stephen Freitas, CMO for the OAAA is quoted as saying.
