Procter & Gamble filed a countersuit Friday in response to a lawsuit by corporate giant Pfizer imposed two weeks ago that accused P&G of creating misleading and false ads, Brandweek reports.
The P&G countersuit claims Pfizer waged a “campaign of disinformation” against the mouthwash Crest Pro-Health - a competitor to Listerine - by sending sales staff to give “false and misleading comparative advertising” to dental professionals. P&G wants the Pfizer suit dismissed and three times what Pfizer made in sales from its marketing campaign.
The Pfizer suit accuses P&G of misleading consumers when it claimed that “four out of five dentists would recommend” Crest Pro-Health. “P&G cannot and does not claim that it has the required substantiation for an affirmative statement that dentists actually recommend Crest Pro Health,” said Pfizer in court documents.
