The CW-My Network TV race to sign affiliates continues: as soon as the CW announces a new list, My Network TV does the same, and this week is no exception. Tuesday’s announcement that the CW had signed six more affiliates was followed on Wednesday by an announcement from My Network TV that it has signed 12, bumping the network up to 64 - including 21 of the 30 largest markets - and 55 percent of the country, Mediaweek writes.
The new additions include WDWB - Granite Broadcasting’s WB in Detroit, the 11th largest TV market in the U.S. - and XUPN - Bay City Television’s UPN San Diego affiliate, the 26th biggest TV market.
Other new affiliates are: WACY, in Green Bay-Appleton; WBGT in Rochester; WISE-DT in Ft. Wayne; KAME in Reno; KTOV in Corpus Christi; WCBI-DT in Columbus-Tupelo-West Point, Mississippi; KBJR-DT in Duluth-Superior; NOSA-DT in Odessa-Midland, Texas; WJKP in Elmira; and KKRA in Rapid City. The TV markets range from the 69th largest to the 177th largest.
As of Tuesday, the CW was claiming to have coverage in 68 percent of the market.
