Creatable Media Reaches Food Court Visitors via Static Ads

Creatable Media has partnered with Clear Channel Malls to offer advertisers a new mall tactic: static advertising atop specially-constructed tables in food courts and other areas. The company is making what it calls a “full food court press,” placing new tabletops in major malls throughout the country, via long-term partnerships with mall developers such as Westfield Corporation, General Growth Properties and Macerich Company.

Latin Television-GlobeCast to Re-Launch U.S. Spanish-Language Programming

Latin Television, Inc., a Spanish-language media company hoping to establish its LTV brand as one of the largest Spanish-language television networks in the U.S., announced the company has reached an agreement with GlobeCast. Under the agreement, GlobeCast will immediately begin supplying Latin Television, Inc. with program origination, satellite uplink and capacity on GlobeCast’s digital platform on AMC-1. GlobeCast’s digital platform on AMC-1 reaches approximately 48.5 million households through cable and TVRO subscribers across the U.S., Canada, Caribbean, and Central America.

Both online and offline sources of local shopping information, including local search, don’t provide enough information to satisfy most consumers, according to a Kelsey Group and Constat study expected to be released today, reports ClickZ (via MarketingVox), but newspapers satisfy a higher percent of respondents than search engines (45 percent compared to 39 percent). Online shopping sites satisfy 16 percent and internet Yellow Pages 15 percent; least satisfactory were local newspaper websites (11 percent satisfied) and online message boards (5 percent).

Viacom’s new teen website, The-N.com, encourages users to create their own Skittle-sponsored video “mash-ups” using clips from The N’s shows, writes Lost Remote. Users can send their mash-ups to friends - who must watch a Skittles ad before being able to view the mash-up - and may see their creations make an appearance on the air. Shows include The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Moesha, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and O’Grady.

March Madness Streams Maxed Out, Potential Viewers Unsatisfied

Media buyers are reportedly so impressed with CBS’s online screening of the first four rounds of the NCAA’s March Madness that they are already trying to get a piece of next year’s action, according to AdAge. Unfortunately, CBS had to cap the number of simultaneous streams at 260,000, underestimating the draw of the event and leaving thousands of viewers unable to view the games.
