XM Adds 10 New Ad-Free Stations

Following the recent ruling which allowed Clear Channel the ability to include commercials on its four XM stations - denying XM the right to call itself totally commercial-free - XM Satellite Radio has announced it added 10 new commercial-free music channels and seven regional news and talk channels, which will come this spring and summer.

Overall, XM’s new channel line-up offers its 6 million subscribers 69 commercial-free music channels, the most commercial-free music channels in satellite radio. XM added two new commercial-free music channels on March 1: Big Tracks focusing on classic rock from the late 70’s onward, and XM Chill devoted to Chill music. During April and May, XM will add new channels including country, gospel, Latin, and heavy metal channel XM Liquid Metal by popular demand.

XM will introduce six new regional news and talk channels that will, for the first time, bring XM subscribers regional news coverage for every area of the continental U.S.

Also in the line-up is the recently announced Oprah & Friends channel, which will debut September 2006. Bob Dylan will host his first radio show exclusively on XM beginning in May. Finally, Major League Baseball is back in full swing on XM, the official satellite radio network of MLB.
