The Betty Crocker Points customer loyalty program that has been around since the 1930s will come to a close this fall, writes DM News. General Mills’ Box Tops for Education points program that donates money to local schools is overtaking the old points program -which included a catalog featuring products that consumers could acquire by collecting points.
“This was a hard decision for us,” said Betty Crocker spokesperson Pam Becker. The printed catalog debuted in 1962 and was typically mailed four to six times a year. An online catalog at bettycrocker.com will be taken down shortly after the last print version is mailed this fall, Becker said.
The Box Tops for Education program encourages consumers to collect box tops from General Mills’ products featuring the program logo. Consumers can give the box tops to their preferred schools, which can redeem the box tops for money.
