Sirius Satellite Radio has announced the launch of its new exclusive Scandinavian music program ‘Nordic Rox,’ which will play hit music from Sweden. The first episode debuted April 30 on Sirius channel 18, The Spectrum.
Songwriter-musician Per Gessle will produce the program, while popular Swedish radio personality Viktor Petrovski will host the program. The lead singer of The Hives, Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, and highly respected ABBA historian Carl Magnus Palm will also contribute to programming.
Scott Greenstein, Sirius President of Entertainment and Sports, said, “The launch of Nordic Rox, together with our recent addition of BBC’s Radio 1 channel, further establishes SIRIUS as the leader in discovery of new popular music around the world.”
Historically, Sweden is the third largest exporter of music, behind the US and Great Britain. Swedish musicians, songwriters, producers and technicians have contributed to global pop music since the 1970s.
