BzzAgent Launches WOM Campaigns in Canada

BzzAgent, a word of mouth marketing agency, is launching a total of five new buzz campaigns in Canada, according to the company. David Balter, found of BzzAgent, said he expects the Canadian network to grow quickly, as the U.S. network is growing at about 4,000 members per week. The company is currently recruiting Canadian buzz agents on its site.

‘Time’ Wins National Magazine Award for General Excellence; No Big Sweeps this Year

Unlike previous years, when top magazines such as the New Yorker swept the American Society of Magazine Editors’ National Magazine Awards, no publication won more than two prizes this year, AdAge writes. Two awards were awarded to Time magazine (one for general excellence with circulations over 2 million)), Rolling Stone, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Esquire, Harper’s Magazine, New York and The New Yorker.

Apprise Acquires Reed Elsevier Trade Shows, Magazine

B-to-B media holding company Apprise Media will acquire several trade shows and the print publication Powder/Bulk Solids from Reed Elsevier for an undisclosed amount, according to BtoB. The events, part of Reed Elsevier’s manufacturing trade show portfolio, include Assembly Technology Expo, International Powder & Bulk Solids, National Manufacturing Week, Quality Expo, and a handful of regional shows.

NYT Expands Print Auto Section, Revamps Same Online

The New York Times announced today the expansion of its Automobiles section that appears in the Sunday Times. The enhanced section will debut on May 14 and include the addition of three half-pages of new editorial content.

On May 15, The Times will also unveil its redesigned Automobiles section at NYTimes.com to complement the expanded print section. The online section will carry exclusive content such as additional car reviews, added video features, a national directory of car clubs and an interactive events calendar.
