Another alternative to traditional advertising has recently hit golf courses nationwide, as golf practice mats are being used to display the logo of sponsors in golf course practice areas, reports Media Life.
The practice mats are part of a new program called “Virtual Turf.” Made by 2aTEE Golf in New York, the mats are made from artificial turf with the logos embossed on the mats. The program targets high-end golf courses and offers golfers a realistic feel for the golf course when they are warming up.
Comcast has already begun using the mats, and uses the program to target upscale courses which previously had not been doing advertising. Their logo is embossed on the mat using the same technology used on football stadium turf, according to the article.
Rates for the mats are $15,975 per course per year, with the average course using 15 mats.
“A longstanding problem is that the practice mats don’t have a natural feel,” President Keith Fiore was quoted as saying. “The design of Virtual Turf provides natural feel, give. It feels exactly like playing out on a course.”
