Corporate bloggers report positive results from blogging, even though they’re pretty much directionless, according to a new study.

Adidas Wins Sponsorship Match at Soccer’s World Cup Final

Adidas had the most overall brand exposure during the 2006 World Cup final between Italy and France, garnering over 1.2 billion impressions among adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Sports.

Adidas was also the clear winner in apparel sponsorship, due to its recognizable logo seen on the uniforms throughout the game. Nearly 30 percent of the exposures to the adidas brand were generated from its logo appearing on the jerseys and shorts worn by French players, and on the referees’ uniforms. In fact, despite not being worn by the winning team, adidas was able to achieve 83 percent of the 426 million apparel-related exposures throughout the match.

ABC Rebrands Evening Newscasts

ABC has renamed its prime-time news show “World News with Charles Gibson.” The change from “World News Tonight” is an effort to reflect the network’s 24-hour delivery system through webcasts, MediaPost reports.

Macy’s will be the subject of a reality television show, The New York Times reports. “Unwrapping Macy’s” will delve into how the retailer operates its stores, selects merchandise, creates a catalog and runs events like the annual Thanksgiving Day parade.

Vaccariello Named EIC for Prevention Mag

Rodale’s recently announced Liz Vaccariello as the new Editor-in-Chief for Prevention magazine. Vaccariello will start her new position in August, Media Week reports. Vaccariello now serves as executive editor for Fitness Magazine.

Media Audit Study: Cell Phones Best PPMs

While Arbitron waits for Media Rating Council accreditation before going live with its PPM service in Houston, The Media Audit released a limited study supporting the use of cell phones as the electronic measurement device for radio. Sixt-six percent of respondents said they were more likely to participate in a radio study by carrying a cell phone compared to 18 percent who preferred a pager.

NBC to Preview Fall Shows on Netflix

NBC will make the premier episodes of Sony’s Kidnapped and Warner Brothers Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip available for Netflix subscribers before they arrive to TV. There are 5 million Netflix subscribers.

US Airways Plans Barf Bag Ads

US Airways plans to sell ads on its air-sickness bags, The Associated Press reports. The new bags should appear in September. US Airways has not decided how much it will charge for the ads, and has only begun negotiating with companies that could be interested.

“They’re in every back seat pocket,” said spokesman Phil Gee. “We figure while it’s there, why don’t we make it multipurpose?”
