La Quinta, the Irving, Texas hotel chain, is offering a new online game to help build brand awareness and change its image about being only a sunbelt hotel.
La Quinta has nearly doubled its footprint to 541 hotels (from 300 in 2004) through franchisees and acquisitions, writes Promo Magazine.
To expand on its growth, the web site has a map showing all the La Quinta hotels throughout the nation. Visitors have a chance to play an instant-game win for free-night stays or have a chance to win a grand-prize getaway. The game is played by clicking a state on the map. A text box appears which shows the instant win (showing the number of La Quinta hotels), or the player has the chance to play again.
La Quinta will be giving away five free-night certificates for any La Quinta hotel every day. In addition, each week one winner will receive a grand-prize round-trip airfare for two on SouthWest Airlines. The trip will include two free nights at any La Quinta nationally. Virtual postcards will also be available on the site so visitors can invite friends to play.
“It is a good way to reach out to our target audience,” Schweitzer said. “The longer a consumer actively engages with the brand, the more faithful and more receptive the customer [is],” Ted Schweizter, vp-e-commerce for La Quinta, is quoted as saying.
