The Sharper Image Corp. continues to struggle, with sales sliding 17 percent in July compared to last year, but sales increased for other major direct marketers.
Neiman Marcus Direct, which includes the Horchow and Neiman Marcus titles, saw July sales increase 11.5 percent and Jos. A. Bank Clothiers saw a 34 percent increase in combined catalog and internet sales for July, according to Multichannel Merchant. Victoria’s Secret Direct sales for July rose 23 percent, and parent company Limited Brands - which includes Express and Bath & Body Work retail chains - saw a 10 percent increase in overall July sales.
J.C. Penney Co. direct sales were flat for the month of July, but internet sales rose 21 percent for the month, on top of last July’s 30 percent increase.
