Swiss Colony, in First Acquisition in 20 Years, Snags Ashro

Multi-title mailer Swiss Colony announced that it has acquired Ashro Lifestyles, a cataloger of apparel and accessories for African American women, reports Multichannel Merchant.

This marks the first acquisition by Swiss Colony in 20 years. The $500 million plus mailer, which mails food gift titles Swiss Colony and The Tender Filet, says that through the acquisition Swiss Colony will lend strengths such as catalog production to Ashro, which will help to reduce costs. Swiss Colony has branched out from food offerings in recent years and now mails apparel catalogs Monroe & Main and Midnight Velvet (which also targets African American women), home decor catalogs Through the Country Door and Room for Color, and general merchandise titles Ginny’s and Seventh Avenue.

“Our desire is to expand our product offerings and overall customer base,” president John Bauman is quoted as saying. “We’re open to both food and non-food growth.”
