Roady XT ready again XM Satellite Radio has received new grants of authority from the FCC for three XM radios with FM transmitters after determining that the radios are in compliance with FCC regulations.
These XM plug-and-play radios - Audiovox Xpress, Delphi RoadyXT, and XM Sportscaster - are three of XM’s primary products at retail, according to the company. XM is notifying its manufacturers to resume production of these devices, and the new products are expected to be available at retail for the holiday shopping season.
The FCC began a probe into XM and Sirius’s FM modulators’ emissions in May, and XM stopped shipment of some of its receivers. Sirius received approvals from the FCC more quickly than XM, and Merrill Lynch analyst Laraine Mancini said in mid-August that a possible product delay for XM could cause an inventory shortage during the holidays.
