Nordstrom Direct has announced plans to nearly double the size of its customer service and fulfillment centers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Thanks to rapid online and catalog sales, Nordstrom Inc. will hire more than 500 additional fulfillment and contact center employees when it expands its centers, adding 258,000 square feet to its existing 320,000 square feet, according to Direct Magazine. The job additions will not be complete until 2018, writes the Des Moines Register.
The company expects sales to grow to $1 billion in the next four to six years. During that time, Nordstrom plans to streamline e-commerce operations. Currently, all products purchased online or through Nordstrom catalogs are shipped from Cedar Rapids.
Last fall, Nordstrom climbed on the broadband wagon and launched a branded entertainment channel, Nordstrom Silverscreen.
