‘USAToday’ Unveils New Travel Tools, Advertiser Opps

USAToday.com is relaunching its travel section today, with a variety of increased advertising opportunities.

The redesigned site will include a heightened emphasis on consumer input, travel tools and blogs, and will include a new Flight Center - complete with flight tracker, departure delays map, Wi-Fi locator and information on fares and mileage programs - writes MediaPost.

The Flight Center offers advertisers the opportunity to become exclusive sponsors of the section. The site’s 28 city guides offer advertisers the chance to sponsor city maps, on which they could indicate their locations. And the front page of the travel section will feature a new expandable billboard unit.

The new blogs will feature comments and feedback from readers more prominently. The goal is to provide a more balanced mix of expert advice from staff with opinions and insights from travel consumers, says Jeff Webber, publisher of USAToday.com.

USAToday.com’s travel section drew 677,000 unique visitors in August, according to the article (based on figures from comScore MediaMetrix).
