MyNetworkTV, the network created from the stations left out of the WB-UPN merger, launched earlier this month, getting a two-week jump on the new television season. In spite of that, the launch was disappointing, and ratings have spiralled downward since then.
The network, which airs two English-language novelas five nights a week, averaged just under a 0.7 household rating for its two shows last week (not counting Saturday recaps), writes Media Life. That was down from a 0.9 household rating its first week.
The network expects ratings to improve, saying that novelas tend to do well, then dip a little and then pick up toward the conclusion of the season.
