Oprah & Friends radio channel, which launched September 25, has brought 13 new advertisers to XM, making it, in terms of ad sales, its most successful channel launch to date.
Joining current XM clients AirTran, Honda, and Rinnai are first-time XM advertisers Acuvue, Crown Publishing, Dove, GE, Iams, JC Penney, Jenny Craig, SlimFast, Rozerum, Snapple, Splenda, Target, and Warners TrueFit.
“In terms of ad sales, this is XM’s most successful channel launch ever,” said D. Scott Karnedy, senior vice president, sales and marketing solutions, XM Satellite Radio. “Not only are clients investing millions of dollars to be a part of Oprah & Friends, but most of them are advertising on XM for the very first time.”
XM generated $20 million in ad sales in 2005, $8.5 million in 2004 and $4.1 million in 2003. XM has 69 commercial-free music channels but runs ads on other channels.
