Email marketer e360 Insight has submitted a new affidavit against London-based Spamhaus to the U.S. Circuit Court in Illinois.
The new affidavit claims that Spamhaus receives an estimated $1.8 million in annual fees for “improperly blocking e360’s email messages,” writes DM News.
e360 Insight recently won a suit against Spamhaus, in which it charged the spam blocking firm with blacklisting e360 Insight’s emails to consumers. Spamhaus was ordered to pay $11.7 million in damages to e360 Insight. The company has no plans to comply with the order issued by the U.S. District Court, however, because the ruling did not occur in a British court.
David Linhardt, CEO of e360insight, has said that he plans to implement a strategy that will make it very difficult for Spamhaus to do business in the U.S., though he wouldn’t share details.
On the e360 Insight site, Linhardt has “documented the entire case from start to finish on this website in an effort to expose Spamhaus’ improper activities and to provide a free service to other U.S. businesses that have been negatively impacted by Spamhaus’ heavy-handed tactics.” Linhardt invites email marketers to “read through the detail in this case and draw your own conclusions about this secret organization known as The Spamhaus Project.”
