Ugly Betty - the ABC take-off on the Hispanic telenovela which lost only 10 percent of its 18-49 audience from its strong premiere and managed to beat Survivor among households - shows signs of being a winner.
Ugly Betty averaged a 4.4 rating in adults 18-49 last Thursday (Oct. 5), according to Nielsen overnights. That’s just 10 percent less than the 4.9 rating for its premiere. The show also rose 26 percent in its second hour, leading up to Grey’s Anatomy, writes Media Life.
However, the New York Times points out, even the small erosion from the first to the second week may be cause for concern.
The Times writes that, in addition to Ugly Betty, two other shows that look as though they may be winners are Heroes on NBC and Jericho on CBS. Jericho, for example, has helped CBS improve ratings it its 8:00 p.m. time slot on Wednesday - which it has struggled with for years.
