‘Brothers & Sisters’ Slips, ABC’s Sunday Grip Loosens

ABC’s Sunday night, once thought invulnerable with Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, is beginning to lose its edge.

The network first moved Grey’s Anatomy to Thursdays, which so far looks like a good choice. But its replacement on Sundays, Brothers & Sisters, has steadily lost audience week after week, and Desperate Housewives is beginning to slide, writes Media Life.

Brothers & Sisters slipped another 8 percent from its previous outing on Sunday, averaging a season low of 4.9. That’s down 21 percent off the 6.2 it averaged during its premiere on Sept. 24. The show also continues to lose much of its Desperate Housewives lead-in. That show, itself, is down 16 percent over four episodes, from a 9.5 debut to an 8.0 on Sunday.

ABC itself is still maintaining a lead among viewers 18-49, but its hold is decreasing. It is down from a 6.4 on premiere night to a 5.4 in the last two weeks. On Sunday, it finished behind CBS in households, when CBS got a good jolt from the NFL overrun and the 60 Minutes segment following that.

The article includes a look at ratings across networks for the evening.
