‘El Nuevo Dia Orlando’ Going Free, Increasing Circ.

Spanish-language newspaper El Nuevo Dia Orlando will move to free distribution Nov. 13 and will increase its distribution by 20 percent Mondays through Thursdays - and by 60 percent on Fridays.

The total weekly distribution of the paper will be 135,000 copies, making it the largest circ. Hispanic publication in central Florida, according to Editor & Publisher. Antonio Luis Gerre Rangel, the COO of Grupo Ferre Rangel, the Puerto Rico-based publisher of the paper, points out that controlled distribution is a trend that is working well for various newspapers in Europe and the U.S., including some that are targeted to the Hispanic market.

Subscribers will receive refunds for subscriptions prepaid for any period after Oct. 30.
