NBC’s Wednesday Sitcoms Plummet 19 Percent

The second episodes of NBC’s 30 Rock and Twenty Good Years both fell on Wednesday night, from already low premieres, down a combined 19 percent in the hour between 8 and 9 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights.

NBC has announced that that hour will be refocused in the future, with less expensive, non-scripted shows such as Deal or No Deal. Wednesday’s struggling sitcoms could become casualties of that plan, writes Media Life.

30 Rock averaged a 2.3 adults in the 18-49 demo, down 21 percent from last week, while Twenty Good Years dropped to a 2.1. That’s down 16 percent from the prior week. The two finished fifth in the time slot, behind the CW’s America’s Next Top Model.

Meanwhile, NBC ordered 10 more scripts of the promising new game show 1 vs. 100.

Wednesday night also saw CBS’s Criminal Minds top ABC’s Lost, for the first time ever in total viewers, according to Nielsen overnights.
