Digital Network Reaches Skiers at Lift Lines

Digital signage mounted outdoors where skiers and boarders wait in lift lines is the hot new product launching in snow country.

A company called Sitour USA, headquartered in Kingston, NY, offers ads on digital signage at lift areas and other outside locations, writes Media Life. The ads include text messages, logos and animated ads, all displayed on four-color LED screens which have light sensors that make them visible in bright light as well as dark conditions.

Sitour president says advertisers can purchase either a logo (shown for 15 seconds), a logo followed by a 15-second text message (weather report or similar content) followed by the logo again, or a 10- to 15-second commercial, to be run without sound.

Ads and ski information are cycled in a five-minute loop.

The program is available in 31 resorts, in states including California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Vermont. The network reaches 70 percent of the 55 to 57 million skier visits each year.
