Entercom Sells 3 Stations to Buy CBS’s 15

Given the go-ahead by the Department of Justice to purchase 15 CBS radio stations in four markets as long as it sells three stations in Rochester, N.Y., Entercom has told the DOJ that it will sell the three stations within three months.

Without that agreement, Entercom could not have purchased the CBS stations - four of which were in Rochester - because when combined with the four Rochester stations it already owned, it would account for more than 57 percent of the radio advertising revenue in the market, writes Mediaweek.

The sale of the three stations will reduce Entercom’s post-transaction share of Rochester radio advertising revenues to about 40 percent, the DOJ said in a statement.

Entercom has already begun operating the CBS Radio stations in Austin, Cincinnati and Memphis.
