Ads placed on narrowcast television networks offer advertisers a way to reach 5.6 million college students.
Via Zilo Networks, advertisers can use cable stations that are run primarily in college dormitories and off-campus housing to reach young adults. Programming includes Zilo-produced shows as well as shows from sources like The History Channel, HBO and Court TV, writes Media Life.
Zilo also airs student-produced media.
Programming is aired in three-hour blocks, broadcast four times a week, with a typical hour include 16 minutes of advertising. The network is currently available on 352 public and private college campuses in 37 states.
Standard spots are 30 seconds but ads can run as long as two minutes. A minimum buy is four spots for four airings (a total of 16 airings) for $1,000.
Yahoo, GM, ABC, Powerade and the ACLU have all been advertisers.
