Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio can both envision a time when they will raise the monthly subscriber fees - but neither plans an increase in the near future.
During separate investor conferences this week, both Sirius and XM said that it is more likely that they will raise subscription fees than lower them, writes Reuters. XM’s chief financial officer, Joseph Eutaneuer, said that the company has kept pricing low to drive subscriber growth.
XM’s last price boost was in early 2005, at which time it raised its monthly fee by 30 percent. Sirius has not raised its price in several years, and during that time has added significant amount of programming, CEO Mel Karmazin pointed out.
