AT&T Testing Free Directory Assistance, with Ads

AT&T is testing an in-house, free directory assistance service sponsored by advertisements, in response to similar services such as 800-Free-411.

The service, called 1-800-YellowPages, offers customers free lookups for local business listings in exchange for listening to 10-second ads, writes DM News.

Ads can be targeted by time of day and the location a caller is calling from. The test is running in Bakersfield, Calif., Oklahoma City, and Columbus, Ohio.
