ESPN Tops Cable for Week Prior to Christmas

ESPN was once again heavyweight champ of cable ratings for the week ended Dec. 24, averaging 3.66 million prime time viewers.

With a 2.9 household rating, ESPN also nabbed first in the 18-49, 25-54, and 18-34 demos, writes Mediaweek. It won the week’s most-watched program on ad-supported cable for the week, as well, with 14.22 million viewers for its Monday Night Football game - hardly surprising, as the sports network has won the top slot with MNF all through the fourth quarter.

USA Network took second place for the week, thanks in large part to its three-hour airing of WWE Raw.

Disney Channel finished third among all cable nets, while TNT placed third behind USA for ad-supported cable nets. ABC Family followed, with TBS finishing fifth.
