Fleming The reshuffle continues in Wal-Mart’s embattled marketing department, with Stephen Quinn replacing John Fleming as chief marketing officer.
As anticipated, Quinn becomes Wal-Mart’s new CMO after serving as the retailer’s SVP of marketing, Adweek reports (via MarketingVox). Fleming will stay with the company, taking over as the new chief merchandising officer.
Wal-Mart’s marketing department has been a source of controversy since the sudden dismissal of execs Julie Roehm and Sean Womack last month. Both execs were alleged to have violated Wal-Mart’s policy of receiving gratuities from potential vendors during the recent review of Wal-Mart’s ad account.
In a second agency review, Quinn reportedly played a more prominent role as Fleming’s diminished. Speculation had centered around the futures of Fleming and Quinn as well, but both executives will apparently stay with the retailer.
