Colorado Junk Mail Bill Tabled

Democratic Colorado state rep. Sara Gagliardi has announced that she will table her bill, the Colorado Junk Mail Opt-Out List Act, according to DM News.

The act faced opposition from businesses, unions and postal workers. Gagliardi may attempt to reintroduce the bill if all parties can work together to reach a compromise.

The bill was originally introduced because of environmental concerns and because some advertising mail can be used to increase identity theft, Gagliardi believes.

On Feb. 22, another state do-not-mail bill, The Montana Do-Not-Mail Act, HB 718, was tabled. It had been introduced Feb. 15 by state Rep. Frank Wilmer, also a Democrat.
