ABC Benefits Most from College Student Viewing outside the Home

Nielsen’s new measurement of out-of-home viewing by college students has benefited ABC ratings more than the ratings of any other network.

Magna Global USA research shows that ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights has gained three rating points among the 18-24 demo, with a boost of one rating point overall in the adult 18-49 demo, since Nielsen began measuring college student viewing in January, writes Mediaweek. Other ABC shows that gained anywhere from 17 to 31 percent were Ugly Betty, Men in Trees, 20/20 Friday, Wife Swap, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, According to Jim and Supernanny.
Fox’s House was the series that increased the most for that network. Til Death, Bones and Nanny 911 from Fox all also increased.

The Office was the largest gainer for NBC. Deal or No Deal and Dateline also increased.

The CW - the network with the youngest median age - had only two shows that were helped along by college students - America’s Next Top Model and Friday Night Smackdown - and CBS had only one, Shark.
