‘Court TV’ Declines to Renew Catherine Crier Contract

Crier

Court TV has decided to forego renewing Catherine Crier’s contract, and is axing the 5 p.m. legal news show Catherine Crier Live.

Crier came onboard Court TV in 1999; she will step down as executive editor, legal news specials, effective April 27, writes Mediaweek.

During Turner’s upfront presentation in New York earlier this month, Entertainment Networks president Steve Koonin announced that Court TV will change its name as part of a total revamping process, though a new name has yet to be announced. The tossing of Crier comes amid other substantive afternoon programming changes already in the works, including the shortening of Nancy Grace’s Closing Arguments to one hour and giving former Court TV personality Star Jones a new legal talk show.

No permanent replacement has yet been made for the 5 p.m. hour; in the meantime, Psychic Detectives will take Crier’s place.
