Rolling Stone to Release Searchable DVD Archive of Every Issue

Rolling Stone magazine will release a searchable DVD containing digital replicas of the magazine’s entire printed history, including every article, review and photograph as they appeared in the pages of the magazine.

The digital archive, to be released in the fall of 2007, will incorporate over 125,000 pages from more than 1,000 issues.

Readers will be able to search and access every U2 or Eminem article, check out Hunter S. Thompson’s gonzo dispatches, view the legendary 1981 John Lennon/Yoko Ono cover or enjoy Jonathan Lethem’s recent Bob Dylan interview, for exactly, exactly as each looked on the magazine’s pages.

Bondi Digital Publishing, the company that developed the software behind The New Yorker’s 80th anniversary box set, is creating the digital archive. The company is also converting every issue of Playboy to digital, based on similar concepts as the Rolling Stone digital archive boxed set.
