ESPN has inked a deal with Gas Station TV to provide content for the service, which provides news and information via screens atop gas station pumps.
Gas Station TV had a soft launch last year, and is ready to expand to New York, Los Angeles and Chicago in June, writes MediaPost. GSTV will have 6,000 screens by year’s end. ABC also provides content to the service.
A similar service, PumpTop TV, is being launched by Westinghouse Digital Electronics and AdtekMedia Inc. PumpTop TV will be in thousands of gas stations in each of the sixty largest U.S. markets, according to the companies.
PumpTop TV is currently looking into national and regional content providers for its network. The first market will be Los Angeles, followed by San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.
