Today, the HD Digital Radio Alliance has announced that it has been successful in rolling out HD2 multicasts in the top 100 markets, with the addition of the final 15 markets.
The new markets are: Gainesville, FL; Charleston, SC; Greenville, NC; Columbia, SC; Daytona Beach, FL; Des Moines, IA; Spokane, WA; Mobile, AL; Wichita, KS; Madison, WI; Colorado Springs, CO; Melbourne, FL; Tri Cities, TN; Lakeland-Winter Haven, FL; and Lexington, KY.
The top U.S. radio broadcasters came together in December 2005 to form the HD Digital Radio Alliance in part to oversee the market-by-market HD2 format selections in the top 100 markets.
