MRI Issues Spring ‘07 Magazine Numbers

Readers-per-copy figures for niche enthusiast magazines vs. those of mass-market titles vary greatly, according to top-line readership data for spring 2007 released by Mediamark Research Inc. (MRI), writes Folio Magazine (via MarketingCharts). The largest ratio between circulation and readers per copy is for the Handguns title, with a circulation of 114,000 and a whopping 47.15 readers per copy - for a total audience of 5.4 million, according to MRI’s “Magazine Audience Estimates Spring 2007.”

The magazine with the most circulation, according to MRI, was AARP The Magazine, with 23.2 million, followed by Reader’s Digest with 10.2 million.

The title with the largest audience is People, with 42.4 million, followed by Better Homes & Gardens with 38.0 million.

Reader-per-copy leader Handguns is followed by Sport Truck with 35.26.

MRI arrives at the reader per copy data by dividing its own audience figures by the circulation figures that ABC or BPA provide. MRI figures do not include electronic or digital copies as reported on ABC statements.
