A Magna Global USA analysis of the summer TV ratings landscape shows that Fox is still ahead among the 18-49 and 18-34 demos, while CBS remains tops among adults 25-54, adults 50 plus and total viewers.
ABC, with few winning reality shows and serial programs that are not doing well, is still maintaining many of its female viewers in the summer season, compared to the regular season, according to the analysis, writes MediaPost.
But ABC is down the most among all adult viewers, dropping 14 percent to a 3.0 live program rating among 18-49s. NBC is down 10 percent among the same demo versus a year ago, to a 2.7 rating, while CBS has slipped 6 percent and Fox is down 5 percent.
Magna points out, however, that the numbers are still in flux, because only partial time-shifted viewing data from last season is available, and because of incomplete DVR penetration in Nielsen’s sample from last season. According to Magna, the Nielsen sample has only recently reached comparative levels to the population.
