Drew Carey’s game show on CBS, The Power of 10, is proving irresistible to adults ages 55 and over, which could be an indication that the network made a smart decision when it chose the comedian to take over as The Price Is Right host in September, after Bob Barker retires.
The Power of 10 has averaged a 5.6 rating with the adults over 55 crowd; the show has averaged less than half that, a 2.3 rating, among viewers 18-49, Media Life points out. Only NBC’s older-skewing America’s Got Talent scored higher in the 55+ demo last week.
Other than The Power of 10, game shows this summer have been skewing toward a younger demo than normal. ABC’s Set for Life and NBCs 1 vs. 100 each averaged a mere 2.8 in the demo last week.
Carey will be the first new host that The Price Is Right has seen in 30 years.
