Nissan Sponsors SEC, SI Special Edition

The Nashville-based U.S. sales arm of Nissan has signed on to become the exclusive auto sponsor of the presentation events surrounding the Heisman Trophy. It will also tout its Titan pickup truck and Rogue crossover to the college football crowd, and it will be the official sponsor of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), writes MediaPost.

The company has penned a deal with Sports Illustrated to get its vehicles in special issues of the magazine, as well as at multimedia events.

Sports Illustrated will publish an SEC commemorative issue exclusively sponsored by Nissan. The issue will be a custom publication distributed at stadiums, displayed at Nissan dealerships in the South, and promoted at pre-game and tailgate parties.

Nissan will also sponsor a six-market road show that will visit game venues. The road show will include Nissan vehicles. There will also be an online element to the campaign.
Nissan chose to sponsor the SEC because of its demographic, geographic footprint and “elbow room,” according to Steve Kerho, director, Media & Interactive Marketing for Nissan.
