Radio Broadcasters Not Thrilled With Google Entering Ad Market

Radio broadcasters at the National Association of Broadcasters convention have given a cold, cold reception to the idea of Google selling radio ads, reports Brandweek (via MarketingVOX).

NAB members labeled the idea “DOA,” dismissing the search/advertising giant’s potential entry into their market. They say Google’s presence as a sales partner is not needed and, quite frankly, not welcome.

Some said Google’s lack of accountability just doesn’t mesh with how stations do business.

Google signed a handful of high-profile radio partners, notably Clear Channel. Others flirted with allowing Google to sell ads on their stations, but haven’t gone past that initial test-run.
