TiVo has launched an ad team that it hopes will help guide direct-response focused brands through the complicated advertising arena on digital video recording’s various platforms, writes Mediaweek.
The Interactive Direct Response Advertising Group is headed up by Robert Barnett, most recently senior marketing consultant to Guthy-Renker Inc.
TiVo’s interactive capabilities allow subscribers to click on “tags” appearing over television commercials and to check out the Showcases section of the interface to opt-in for additional information from advertisers, ClickZ writes.
For example, American Express is presenting offers to TiVo users within the ad showcase area, providing text descriptions and numbers to call for more information. Or, users can click a button on their remotes to have information sent to them about Norwegian Cruise Line’s Freestyle Cruising vacations.
The group will focus on such direct tactics that use TiVo’s on-screen interface and remote control device, officials say.
