Publicis has consolidated most of its Japanese holdings, which had operated under Publicis Japan, into Beacon Communications, a full-service shop and one of the nation’s 10 largest agencies, writes Adweek.
Beacon is a joint venture between Publicis and Dentsu.
The move, which strengthens Publicis’ position in the world’s second-largest advertising market, comes just a month after the company acquired a majority stake in Delhi-based agency Capital Advertising.
The article points out that Publicis has spent much of the year in acquisitions, investments and strategic moves since its purchase of Digitas. Some have been in the digital space and others in European media.
Rival Havas has made similar motions, boosting its minority stake in Middle East luxury marketing network Chalhoub Group to 50 percent.
